PROPOSAL SUBMISSION AND EVALUATION PROCESS

Submissions will be accepted beginning January 1, 2010

Mission:
To promote education about the Chihuahuan Desert. The conference should encourage educators and researchers working in the Chihuahuan Desert to network and share knowledge.

Vision:
Chihuahuan Desert Educational Coalition is a bridge building organization that encourages people to come together on behalf of conservation and education of the Chihuahuan Desert.

To achieve CDEC’s overarching mission and vision, the goals of the Chihuahuan Desert Conference are:

A. Create opportunities to learn about the Chihuahuan Desert.

B. Provide opportunities for individuals engaged in conservation work or research to network.

C. Provide a space and time for researchers to present their findings.

Overall Review Criteria 

HOW DO I APPLY TO LEAD A SESSION?

WHO WILL REVIEW AND SELECT PROPOSALS?
Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the conference planning and coordination board members.

SESSION FORMATS

Traditional Presentations (30 Minutes)
These sessions focus on a topic or program and typically involve a 20 minute presentation, followed by 10 minutes for questions, although this may vary.

Traditional Presentations (1 Hour)
These sessions focus on a topic or program and typically involve a 45 minute presentation, followed by 15 minutes for questions, although this may vary.

Poster
Posters are set up throughout the entire conference with the opportunity to stand with your poster during the conference on November 13.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES
All proposals must be received by March 5, 2010.

AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT
Projectors can be provided at the EPWU facilities where the conference will be held.

NOTIFICATION
Notification of acceptance/rejection will be e-mailed) to all primary contacts by June 1st 2010. Please ensure that your submission includes a valid e-mail and daytime phone number. If accepted notices will include session schedule (day, time, room). Primary Presenters are responsible for notifying all co-presenters about presentation status and scheduling information. Presenters will be encouraged to submit a paper for inclusion in the 2010 Chihuahuan Desert Conference Proceedings. Details about submitting papers will be included with acceptance notices. You must confirm your participation by July 1, 2010 .

REGISTRATION
All presenters are required to register and pay published conference fees.  These fees will be announced on www.chihuahuandesert.org in January 2010.
